Float Down the Springfed Current River

Floating down the crystal-clear Current River is one of Missouri's most popular outdoor activities. And Larimore's can help launch you on a day of fun and relaxation on the water.

Bubbling springs, including some of America's biggest and prettiest, keep the Current floatable year-round. Go with the flow and admire the bluffs, caves, forests, wildlife and Ozark valleys that make this river such an adventure to float.

Canoes, tubes, camping...whatever time of year you choose, the final step is easy: just get to Larimore's and enjoy yourself!

Some Area Attractions

Montauk State Park: The Park's seven springs form the headwaters of the Current River. Excellent rainbow trout fishing. You have quick and easy access to Montauk from your campsite at Larimore's.

Welch Springs: Welch Cave Spring is one of the many springs which flow into the Current River. It is located between Cedar Grove and Akers and is the fifth largest spring in Missouri. Average flow is 120 million gallons of crystal clear Ozark spring water per day.

Devil's Well: The well was first explored in 1952. The sinkhole entrance was found to lead to an underground chamber larger than a football field. Later explorations discovered that water in Devil's Well resurfaced at the Current River through Cave Springs. These underground passages are similar to many located in the Ozarks.

Alley Mill: Visit the historic Alley Roller Mill for a look into the past. The mill is open daily from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Stop in for an up-close look at one of the Ozarks' most famous landmarks. There is no charge, but donations help us offset operating costs and are gratefully accepted. Located six miles west of Eminence, Missouri, on State Highway 106. Books and postcards may be purchased at the mill. The mill machinery is no longer operational, although restoration efforts are underway.

Story's Creek School: See how the "Three Rs" really were taught in country schools. Open Friday and Saturday, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., during the summer season. Located adjacent to Alley Mill.

Trails & Roads: There are 380 miles of roads within the park, most of which are secondary public roads and backcountry roads or traces. There are numerous road access points along the Current River. Short hikes in the Big Spring and Alley Spring areas are popular. Several long sections of the Ozark Trail have been completed. Hiking is great during both warm and cool weather.
